Seagate Five Year Warranty Policy

Seagate Technology understands that a hard disc drive is one of the more
valuable investments made by people and business organizations. Because
hard drives house business-critical data, files and applications, they need
to perform consistently and reliably. If a drive should fail, users must be able
to have it replaced or repaired with minimal interruption.  When Seagate
announced our five-year warranty for hard drives in 2004, we were the first
provider of storage products to deliver such a radical statement, attesting to
our confidence in our technology and our commitment to deliver the best
return on investment to our channel partners and their customers. If you are
integrating Seagate drives into your systems, you should know how the five-year
warranty works so you can represent it well to your customers. Some basics:
  The Seagate 5-Year Warranty extends for five years from the date of shipment
by Seagate. It protects customers from potential drive failures for the full term. 
  The service levels provided under the warranty are the same throughout the
five-year duration. Seagate does not make any exclusions or require additional
documentation during the last years of the warranty period. If the customer
experiences any issues with the warranty process at any time during the five
years, the Seagate Warranty Support team should be contacted for assistance.  
 The five-year warranty covers all internal hard drives designed for PCs,
notebook and enterprise systems that ship through Seagate authorized distribution
and retail channels.    Without exception, the warranty applies to all Seagate
customers who purchase a hard drive from Seagate distributors or through the
authorized distribution channel. This includes channel system integrators,
system builders, retail customers, and bare-drive customers who purchase
through distributors.  
 Only very few external drive products are excluded from the five-year warranty:
external retail products, pocket drives, portable drives and compact flash drives.
Those products are covered by a one-year warranty in the Americas.  
   With the five-year warranty, Seagate realizes our promise to provide the best
